CBS Memogate Report:
Addressing Some of the the Technical
Issues with Adobe Acrobat Reader

Difficulty with Copy-and-Paste

As has been noted by a number of writers at this point, the CBS Memogate report was altered at some point Monday to prevent the critics of CBS from easily copying and pasting from the report. To be exact, right click and copy is disabled and so is Edit > Copy to Clipboard. Interestingly, this change was made at both the CBS website and the Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham LLP website. Hmmmm.... Just another reminder that the "independent panel" actually had a lawyer-client relationship with CBS.

You may copy-and-paste from our new html version of the CBS Report here.

Of course, the currently available .pdf file works great if you only want to read or print the report.

Technical Notes:

Adobe Acrobat Reader is free. You may download it here if you don't already have it. If you do have the Reader, you really should consider updating to version 7.0. It opens in a fraction of the time that previous versions took to load up. WooHoo!!! To quickly see which version of Acrobat Reader you have, look in your Start menu, or click 'Help' on the menu bar in Acrobat Reader, go to 'About' and it tells you right there.

How to download the report: Right click on the download link and then select 'Save Target As' from the menu.

How to copy and paste in Adobe Acrobat Reader: You must first click 'Select Text' in the tool bar. You cannot select anything with the little hand cursor. Then you will be able to highlight the text you want to copy. Right click and choose 'Copy to clipboard'. Now you can paste your copied text wherever.

Tired eyes? Click 'View' in the menu bar, then click 'Read Out Loud'. Adobe Acrobat will read to you. You may pause or stop the reading in the same location on the menu.

Prefer to work with the report in Word or another word processor? Click 'Edit' in the menu bar of Acrobat Reader and select 'Copy File to Clipboard'. This will copy the whole report! Then open Word and paste.
